Procedure to get GIC from Scotiabank

• You register for the Scotia bank Secure Email Services :
• In order to submit your Scotia bank student GIC program Application, You must first register to send email through the “Scotiabank secure Email Service”.
• To register click on :

 https://startright.scotiabank.com/student-gic.html

• Important Note : Register with the same email address you provide on your Scotia bank student GIC program application.

   

• Start Secure email communication with Scotia bank :
• A few minutes after you register, a Scotia bank email from ems@scotiabank.com will be sent to your personal email.
• Follow the instructions in this mail to access the Scotia bank secure email service.
• Once you have accessed your mailbox, you will see an email with instructions on how to download the Scotia bank student GIC program Application. 

• Submit Program Application :
• Download and Complete a Scotia bank Student GIC program Application. The Application must be TYPED to be accepted. Review, Print and Signed the Application.
• Scan your typed and signed copy of the application in a single PDF file.
• Log into your Scotiabank Secure Email service mailbox and REPLY to the secure email in the mailbox. Attach your scanned PDF Application.
• Update your subject line of your email as :

“Scotiabank Student GIC Program – Your Full Name (Given/First and Surname/Last) – Passport – New Application”.

• This GIC Application must be sent by you and will only be accepted through the Scotiabank Secure Email Service. 

• Get Account details from Scotia bank (Within 5 working days) :
• After reviewing your application, Scotiabank send you a secure email confirming your Scotia Investment Account Number and provide wire transfer instructions. 

• Transfer money from bank in India :
• You have to transfer $10,000 CAD to your scotiabank investment number , plus $200 CAD to cover administration fees, for a total of $10,200 CAD.
• Important Note : The whole amount is only to be transferred from student’s own bank account of India. 

• Scotiabank issue an “Investment Directions Confirmation” :
• Once Scotia bank receive your money by wire transfer, they issue an “Investment Directions Confirmation” and send it to you by secure email.
• Important Note : This Confirmation letter is only available in secure email for 180 days, So, print it out as it receives for your record. 

• When you reached at Canada, you have to visit any Scotiabank branch of your choice to open a personal deposit account and to purchase your GIC. Please bring the following documents with you;
• Passport
• Welcome letter (Your Visa)
• Letter of enrollment from a Canadian educational institution ( or Student ID Card)
• Study Permit
• Investment Directions Confirmation

• $ 2000 CAD amount is to be converted into Initial deposit in your deposit account and remaining $ 8000 CAD will be set up in a Non redeemable GIC which will deposited in your deposit account with fixed equal monthly payments.
